Linear Drains are Great for Walk-In Showers

Recently the Market Ready section of The New York Times discussed the option of replacing a bathtub with a luxury walk-in shower and how it could impact a home’s value, specifically in terms of resale value. The article cited the opinions of several real estate and design industry professionals, who all offered great advice on the subject.

Michael Shapot, a senior vice president with the New York office of Keller Williams Realty, spoke of the recent industry trend toward creating more spa-like bathrooms with walk-in showers and noted that if the target market is empty-nesters, senior adults, or single professionals, replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower may be a wise investment.

Robin Elmslie Osler, a New York architect, said that many of her clients are requesting walk-in showers over baths and attributes it to the fact that it seems many city dwellers don’t have a lot of time for a long, leisurely bath. “I think it’s because the idea of taking a bath, in urban areas, carries a connotation of leisure and time. And it doesn’t seem like that is something that New Yorkers, in particular, have much of,” she said.
