Specifying Linear Drains

We’ve talked about styles, sizes, installation, and placement options, but we haven’t talked much about specifying a linear drain. To simplify the specification process, we recently partnered with Concora. All design tools and specification needs are right in one – super user-friendly – platform, which can be directly accessed from our website. Check it out here.

Whether or not you choose to utilize the Concora design tools while writing up your next spec, here’s a few things to keep in mind:

  • Space needed for installation: roughly 2 additional inches are needed for backerboard, waterproofing and tile. So, if the installation calls for a 60-inch linear drain then the rough opening must equal approximately 62 inches.
  • Fixed outlet position: all LUXE standard size linear drains have a central, fixed 2-inch outlet. This is important to note with underlying plumbing.
  • Variable outlet position: LUXE’s Modular V Channel Kits offer the ability to choose the outlet position on site. Perfect for plumbing that might require an offset outlet or existing plumbing with renovations.
  • Plumbing codes: Great news! All LUXE Linear Drains are compatible with all types of waterproofing. However, it is still important to consider local plumbing codes when choosing a linear drain.
