Discover Decorative Linear Shower Drains Before it’s Too Late

After four delightful years in Boston for college, my whole crew from had no intentions of leaving anytime soon. The best plan for us was to get some jobs in the city and hunker down together in Southie while we waited for our lives to happen. It was 1997, the same year “Goodwill Hunting,” starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams and others took home a pair of Academy Awards.
Since I was right there at the time, please forgive my cavalier assumption that the rest of world has seen this film shot on location in South Boston. And don’t worry, you didn’t accidently click on a random pop-up link to old movie reviews. The details above are meant only to provide a common point of reference to properly frame a touchy moment I had with my Uncle Pete last Christmas.

In the movie, there’s an especially poignant scene when Williams (a therapist) clutches Matt Damon (Will Hunting) by the collar and repeatedly tells him, “It’s not your fault … It’s not your fault,” referring to the painful, troubled childhood of Matt Damon’s character. And while I would never dream consider wrinkling my Uncle Pete’s collar, we did share a similar moment at our annual family Christmas gathering hosted at his palatial custom home with oversized windows that offer majestic views of the mighty Atlantic as it thunders away at the rocky coast of Portland, Maine.

The whole Murphy side loves to gather here. And every year the house seems to keep getting better as Uncle Pete wraps up another home improvement project just in time. In fact, it was last year’s kitchen remodel and new guest bath project that led to our far-less animated “Goodwill Hunting” moment.

image3In fairness, Uncle Pete has an impeccable eye for classic, modern design, and he likes to stay current with his stylish, annual renovations. Since I’m in the business so to speak, Uncle Pete and I have spent plenty of time talking luxury custom tile design. He couldn’t wait to show me the stunning new guest bath walls that he had surfaced with handmade custom ceramic tiles, except for the new guest shower where he chose a gorgeous blend of glass mosaic tile for all three walls and the shower floor. In fact, it was the glass mosaic shower floor that ultimately triggered our “moment.”

Just to clarify, the problem had absolutely nothing to do with beautiful custom guest bath. The problem was that right smack-dab in the middle of the new shower floor was a clumsily tiled around, way outdated round-center drain. My heart sunk the minute I saw it. And I knew right how it happened.

Clearly, Uncle Pete had yet to come across a custom designed modern shower featuring a linear channel drain. This was an extremely obvious fact. If he had ever seen or been made aware of linear channel drains, there’s just no chance he would have gone with the traditional round-center option. The minute anyone becomes aware of decorative linear channel drains there’s no looking back – ever.

SONY DSCDespite being relatively new in the U.S., decorative linear channel drains are being installed in every luxury custom home and the grandest of all five-star hotels. We already have companies such as LUXE Linear Drains in Atlanta offering complete collections of architectural-grade, 100% stainless steel decorative grate patterned linear drains, linear tile insert drains, as well as decorative square replacement drains with square inserts to match.

Unfortunately, when Christmas rolled around last year it was already too late. All I could say to Uncle Pete was, “It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault.”
